Any blow to the head is a head injury. However this term denotes trauma significant enough to cause neurological symptoms.

How to react?

To avoid the trauma ...

Note also that many head injuries in children can often be prevented by wearing helmets (when cycling for example) and of course by close monitoring during hazardous activities.
